This is the second post in my AFTW Holiday Challenge Series. Read my first post here.
Chances are, you saw that title and cringed.
Regifting! As a gift giver, that’s only the most shameful act that one could commit! It’s tacky, cheap, and thoughtless to the recipient! How could anyone commit such a heinous crime?
Just listen for a minute! Ask yourself, how many gifts do you receive every year that you never end up using? Kids, this is particularly for you. Remember that toy last Christmas that you just had to have? You begged and begged your parents because you knew you couldn’t live without it?
When was the last time you played with it?
Maybe you screamed with joy when you saw it and spent Christmas morning trying it out. You played with it for a week, and then…
You put it away and never thought about it again.
The same thing happens year after year. As I get older, I see this happening even as I receive more clothing than toys. If this is a cycle that we are unable to outgrow, how can we combat it?
Get your giving on.
While you’re opening presents, there are some children not so far away that have nothing for Christmas. Before you throw those unwanted gifts into the closet to stay, consider giving them to kids who are less fortunate than you are. After all, Christmas is about giving, not getting.
What better way to truly give back this Christmastime?
